Delta Bathroom Faucet Repair Instructions

As a homeowner lacking professional plumbing knowledge, it can be disheartening when a delta bathroom faucet develops a problem and needs some maintenance. Fortunately, with the help of a few tools, do-it-yourself homeowners can easily complete a delta bathroom faucet repair themselves.

The first step is to shut off your home’s water supply by closing the main shutoff valve. This can be located beneath the sink, behind a wall, or in a basement. Use of a pair of channel-type slip-joint pliers will be necessary to loosen the lock nut on the bottom of the faucet. Once removed, proceed to grab the handle and carefully twist it off. Pull the sleeve and bezel off the base of the faucet exposing the valve.

The next step is to remove the retaining clip and any packing washer that may be present in the base of the faucet. Gently pull out the valve stem with a pair of needle nose pliers. Close inspection of the delta bathroom faucet should be done at this point, in order to check for any warped or corroded parts that may need replacing. Inspect all O-rings carefully for cracking, brittleness, and tears. If any of these are found, it is recommended that all the gasket seals be replaced as part of the repair.

Once the proper parts and seals have been purchased, re-assembly of the faucet can begin. Start by replacing the old seal with the new one and apply a small amount of the plumber’s grease to the top of the seal before pushing the valve stem into place. Insert the retaining washer and tighten the screw holding the faucet parts together. Replace the old packing washer as before and tighten the handle to the base of the faucet.

Finally, turn the water supply back on and check the base of the faucet for any leaks. With a bit of time and patience, you have now successfully completed your delta bathroom faucet repair.
