We will guide you through the steps on how to make a recessed shelf in your bathroom.

- Pencil
- Level
- Utility knife
- Drywall saw
- Screwdriver
- Construction adhesive

- Wood screws
- Paint or stain
- Paintbrush
Step 1: Choose the Location
First, determine the best location for your recessed shelf. Choosing a spot where it won’t interfere with existing electrical or plumbing lines is important. Also, consider the height and accessibility of the shelf.
Step 2: Measure and Mark
Using a tape measure and pencil, mark the desired size and location of the shelf on the wall. Use a level to ensure that your marks are even.
Step 3: Cut the Hole
Using a utility knife, score the wall where the shelf will be placed. Then, using a drywall saw, carefully cut along the score lines to create the hole for the shelf.
Step 4: Build the Shelf
Using construction adhesive, attach the sides and bottom of the shelf to the inside of the hole. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
Step 5: Install the Backing
Cut a piece of wood to fit the hole’s opening and attach it to the back of the shelf using wood glue and wood screws.
Step 6: Finishing Touches
Paint or stain the shelf to match your bathroom decor. Once the paint or stain is dry, install the shelf by screwing it into place through the sides of the shelf and into the studs in the wall.
A recessed shelf is a great addition to any bathroom, providing much-needed storage without taking up floor space. With a few tools and basic DIY skills, you can easily build your recessed shelf and customize it to fit your bathroom’s decor.
